Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What should I wear to my session?
A: Wear comfortable clothing to your session. During the session, you will have the opportunity to privately remove any clothing that you are comfortable removing. Whether you choose to be fully clothed, partially undressed, or fully unclothed, it is entirely YOUR decision based on YOUR level of comfort. We also provide draping for your comfort.
Q: How often should I schedule sessions?
A: Depends on goals and needs. Weekly initially for chronic tension, then biweekly or monthly as mobility improves. Typically, the longer you have been dealing with pain/discomfort, the more time/sessions are needed to fully address the issue(s). However, we frequently provide noticeable relief during the initial session.
Q: Can I combine multiple techniques in one session?
A: Yes — Depending on the goals of the session, MFR (myofascial release), cupping, Gua Sha, and mobility integration can all be combined for your specific needs, as appropriate..
Q: How long are the sessions, and what should I expect?
A: We offer 60, 90, and 120-minute sessions, with longer sessions available upon request. Each session begins with a brief intake review to discuss your goals and any areas of concern, followed by a few minutes of privacy to get comfortable on the table. The therapist will then conduct a targeted, hands-on session tailored specifically to your body and what it needs that day.
Q: Will this massage hurt?
A: Some areas may feel firm or deeply worked, but smooth, consistent pressure ensures effective release without pain that makes you hold your breath. Many clients describe it as some of the most comfortable yet effective deep tissue work.
Q: What should I do before my session?
A: Arrive hydrated, stress-free, and allow enough time. Communicate any areas of concern so your session is tailored to you.
Q: Can I address posture or desk-related tension during my session?
A: Yes — Shawn’s experience with athletics and corporate life allows sessions to relieve tension from prolonged sitting or technology, improving mobility and balance.
Q: How long will my appointment take?
A: The session length refers to hands-on treatment time only. For example, a 60-minute session includes a full 60 minute of table time, plus a brief pre-session consultation and a short post-session wrap-up. Please plan accordingly and if you are on a tight schedule, let your therapist know at the start of your session.
